DESCRIPTION
@17:00 The Metropolitan Jazz Band was founded in the year 1972 by trumpeter Josef Krajnik. Originally playing Dixieland music, it has developed into a full professional orchestra with a very broad repertoire, ranging from blues to Dixieland and mainstream.
The sound of the MJB has remained the same through several personnel changes owing to the unmistakable trumpet playing style of Josef Krajnik. His style originated in that of Louis Armstrong. Roy Eldridge and others. The arrival of young musicians has caused a move to a more modern approach to harmony and arrangement of individual compositions. In particular the rhythmic group together: piano, bass, electric guitar, drums and percussion, forms the motor of the orchestra. Here the dominating factor is pianist Radim Linhart, who belongs to a new wave of young professional musicians.
