Hey so you missed out on Rock For People and Hip Hop Jams - big whoop dee do! Muse is overrated, Prodigy is old news, and DJ Premier … well, DJ Premier is the s***, but whatever, don’t fret, August is when the serious talent shows up around here anyways, so pay attention. Any genre you like, you'll find it either happening in Prague or in some little Baroque village around Prague sometime later this month.

You like breaking chairs and listening to death metal? Well guess what, Sepultura is headlining the Brutal Assault Metal Festival for 3 days of moshing, crowd surfing and some of the gnarliest thrash guitar solos you've ever heard (along with vocals about dragons and corpses and stuff). That's a pretty intense scene though, so maybe you're looking for something more smooth and chic - something like a psychedelic electronica dance festival. Well make some calls and get some of those little tabs with the smiley faces cause Royksopp and Faithless (check THIS on the DJ playlist) are playing just 50 km out of Prague at Panenský Týnec, aka “the Virgin of the Village.”  And don't worry about the DJ Premier thing, Talib Kweli and Roots Manuva are gonna be beatboxin', hiphopin' and rhythm and bluesn' up a storm out at the Czech Republic's fotress-festivalground, Hradec KrÁlovÉ for this year's Hip Hop Kemp Fest, Aug 19-21.

Or maybe you grew out of all that stuff a while ago and you're looking for something a little more elegant like Prague's ongoing Early Music Festival (July 22nd - Aug 8th), featuring classically trained virtuoso musicians performing Vivaldi, Bach, H. Purcell, J. Benda, and O. Lasse at grand venues like the Star Summer Palace, Brevnov Monastery, Troja Chateau, and Dominican Monastery Martinicky palace.
